Group Buyer - Relocation assistance available

First Achieve are working with an award-winning manufacturer based in Ayrshire that offers food safety products, services and expertise. An exciting opportunity for a motivated Group Buyer has arisen due to the companies increasing growth. Our client is looking for someone who is motivated, enthusiastic and has previous experience in buying and with a background in life science or food related degree. Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.



Main duties include: -

• Assisting the material manager to deliver the annual savings plan by identifying, achieving and recording cost savings.
• Monitor costs within budget related with bid/projects negotiating with suppliers where suitable.
• Negotiate the payment terms to suit the needs of the business.
• Manage a portfolio of suppliers to ensure quality, delivery, specification, service and cost requirements are met. Assist the QA Manager with the vetting and selection of new suppliers.
• Develop ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance and work towards a strategy of continuous improvement.
• Work collaboratively and negotiate and engage with all material planners and suppliers regarding new projects, supplies and advise any impact of change on purchasing and production activities.
• Update others/attend meetings on issues or concerns which run the risk of preventing the organisation meeting customer demands.

Ideal Candidate: -

• Previous buying experience or in a similar role.
• Come from a life science or food related background.
• Current driving license and must be willing to visit other sites and suppliers when required.
• Must have excellent verbal, written communication skills with exceptional organisational skills.
