This is an exciting opportunity that goes beyond the usual bounds of a General Manager role. As well as managing the medium and long-term demands of the manufacturing operation (end-to-end) this role also requires a strategic perspective on the longer-term development of the whole manufacturing footprint. As a result, the successful candidate will need to have the strategic experience to demonstrate that they can manage a fast-paced operational environment coupled with the intellect to devise strategic projects aimed at managing growth and cost. Key responsibilities include:
i) Responsibility for the long-term vision and objectives of the manufacturing operation.
ii) Leadership responsibility for a multi-functional team and a large indirect team.
iii) Strategic responsibility for safety, quality and cost. Creating robust objectives and tactics to deliver the requirements of the business.
iv) Maintaining and developing a culture of empowerment and entrepreneurialism at all levels of the organisation.
The successful candidate will have operated at a senior level within a food/FMCG environment. They will be intellectually sharp with the ability to quickly assimilate large amounts of information and devise strategic action plans, ideally gained from experience within a blue-chip environment. In addition, they will have excellent interpersonal skills and will be able to communicate at all levels of the organisation.
