Our Client, a fast paced, high volume manufacturer of chilled foods for the major retailers, is looking for a Technical Systems and Compliance Manager for their site based in Kent. Reporting to the Head of Technical, the successful candidate will be responsible for incoming and outgoing specifications as well as developing and maintaining a robust Quality System.

Key accountabilities for the role are:

  • Managing and coaching a team of Compliance and Specifications Technologists, setting direction and performance standards
  • Taking responsibility for the day to day management of the Technical Department including QMS, HACCP, Legislation, Customer and Raw Material Specifications, Product Information, Technical databases and risk assessments
  • Generating and interpreting Technical KPIs, including non-conformance, customer complaints and microbiological performance
  • Helping to develop and maintain change management procedures and communicating to relevant parties
  • Ensuring the customer interfaces internally and externally are managed professionally and in a timely manner
  • Involvement in customer audits and visits with a focus on specifications, artwork and artwork critical path management
  • Requesting information from suppliers and monitoring supplier performance
  • Communicating outstanding areas & additions to standards to ensure compliance with all current relevant standards, Codes of Practice and legislation
  • Working with the broader site team to ensure any changes (specifications and printed packaging) associated with launches, delists and promo activities are implemented in line with the critical path
  • Maintaining department trackers and ensuring systems are maintained to give up to date information

Essential skills and experience include:

  • Experience working with the Major Retailers in a Senior Technical or Quality position within a chilled food manufacturing environment
  • Understanding of Food Legislation and Retailer Codes of Practice, particularly as regards legal labelling and critical path management
  • Experience managing and coaching a small team
  • Strong time management skills with a focus on delivery
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with an ability to influence others at all levels
  • Effective levels of PC literacy

The working hours of this role are Monday to Friday, 8am – 5pm and the salary is £40,000 - £47,500 per annum, dependent upon experience.  You will also need a driving licence for this role.
