First Achieve are working with a long standing client of ours who are in the process of completing a restructre due to growth and have now identified a urgent requirement for a permanent Payroll Manager.

Our client are a leading Food Manufacturing business based in the West Midlands, they are looking for an experienced and dedicated Senior Payroll Officer responsible for both weekly & monthly payroll and associated activities.

Normal hours of work are 8:00am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday and they are offering a salary up to £32k.

You will manage the entire Payroll operation. This role is also responsible for the Pension administration and the reporting to HMRC, including RTI's and Year End requirements. Finally this role will also be involved in other admin tasks, including the employee expense claims management process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparation of weekly and monthly payrolls
  • Pension administration, reporting and reconciliation
  • Calculation and processing of all employee absence, sickness, benefits and deductions, as well as overtime payments
  • Employee expense claims management and BIK calculations
  • Reconciliations and ad hoc reports for Finance, Directors and Managers
  • Payments over to HMRC, Pension providers, Courts, CSA, etc.
  • Reporting to HMRC including RTI's, Year End, EPS and P11Ds
  • Hands-on payroll processing, as required
  • Tax year end / start preparation and organisation, including PAYE settlement
  • Point of contact for payroll queries
  • Ensure the business is up to date with relevant legislation changes and updates
  • Creation of payroll processes and detailed work instructions
  • Post payroll admin tasks
  • Other admin tasks





  • Experience, Skills & Knowledge required:

    Professional Qualifications and Training Certificates
    English A levels or equivalent
    CIPP, CPP or any other relevant degree

    Skills and Knowledge Required:
    Experience with payroll systems
    Experience with time and attendance system
    Intermediate Excel skills
    Experience with Snowdrop beneficial but not essential
    Experience with ProMark beneficial but not essential
    Experience of Sage 50, Sage 500, Sage X3, or SAP
    Advanced Excel skills
