Head of Operations

Main Purpose of the Job:

Due to continued growth and heavy investment in the Midlands, my client are seeking a Head of Operations to oversee and lead the daily operations within a busy food manufacturing site. The successful applicant will be responsible for contributing to and carrying out production strategy decisions. To ensure all the processes for all the production lines are completed efficiently in cost-effective methods, whilst also driving KPI's and promote a continuous improvement culture and implement new processes to drive performance. You must be able to effectively motivate employees and manage shift structure in a continuous fast paced working environment.

Accountabilities/Duties:

·Coach the team to ensure a clear understanding of the requirements relating to Food Safety and effective quality management

·Inspire others with a compelling safety vision and demonstrate your commitment to reduce risks by motivating and encouraging your team

·Lead continuous improvement in plant performance and efficiency, refining planning tools to optimise network cost and utilisation

·Coach and develop the factory team to ensure they have the capability to meet the performance goals whilst working with department managers daily

·Responsible appraising, counselling, and disciplinary process for the production factory, liaising with the HR Manager

·Reduce staff turnover and ensure labour cost base is the most productive, efficient and cost competitive

·Manage, monitor and keep within budget, utilising appropriate levers to achieve budget where possible

·Comply with all company policies and standard operating procedures

Qualifications/ Certifications:

Qualifications not mandatory however relevant Food Safety/ Manufacturing qualifications are useful

Knowledge and experience:

·Must have senior role experience working within fast paced Food Manufacturing production or FMCG (Operations Management preferable)

·Experience leading multiple small teams daily

·Multi skilled in variation of roles including Site Director, Ops Manager, Head of Ops, GM, Manufacturing manager, Senior Production manager roles

·Proven track record of Business improvement strategy success

·Proven ability to develop, communicate and implement production plans to budgets and service delivery

·Experience monitoring compliance with safety policies and procedures

·Knowledge of relevant legislative and compliance requirements

Skills and aptitude:

·Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships and influence senior stakeholders internal and external to the organisation.

·Ability to coach and develop others, monitor and measure performance and provide direct feedback. Implementing cultural change through leadership, engagement and coaching.

·Capability to challenge self and others whilst taking responsibility and accountability for decision making. As well as challenging the state of current operations where relevant and be innovative in improvement strategy recommendations.

·Proactive in identifying issues, preventing issues from arising
