Assistant Buyer (Mat Cover)

Successful Food & Drink manufacturer requires an Assistant Buyer for up to 12 months.

Reporting directly to the Procurement Manager you will be tasked with helping develop and executing plans for

the specific buying categories.

Accountabilities:

• Identify, source and develop the category ensuring all materials meet customer specification, production needs, food safety standards and procured from a sustainable source
• Deputise for Procurement Manager checking latest ‘WHAT IF’ predicted prices for costing purposes
• Data maintenance / filing contract data both hard and electronic copy 
• Expedite material samples for innovation and NPD pipeline
• Support finance team in the progression / clearance of invoice queries
• Proficient in disseminating and analysing spend data 
• Track, identify positive & negative Purchase Price Variance (PPV) and a good understanding of what triggers the price variance
• Chase & maintain all material contract balances and create a calendar alert system to prompt annualised negotiations
• Maintain weekly whole citrus tracker from goods in receipts & flag anomalies to Procurement Manager
• Support Procurement Manager by identify and recording commonality of spend, cost engineering projects, material matching, vendor rationalisation & profit improvement plans (PIPS)
• Maintain log of all ‘Awards of Business’ to all suppliers
• Record and maintain tracker of all confirmed supplier volume agreements
• Support all account managers with promotional activity and rolling customer forecasts to supply chain manage stock volumes

Candidate experience:

• Previous Purchasing experience within Food & Drink Manufacturing is preferred. Other manufacturing experience will be considered.
• Good level of numerical and analytical ability.
• Good planning and coordinating skills and ability to work independently
• Proficient in Microsoft Office with strong Word and Excel skills
• Excellent internal and external customer service skills
•  Full driving license
