Fantastic opportunity for an individual with a Quality background to gain further knowledge of the Technical aspect of the chilled food industry.

Client Details

Small, but rapidly growing chilled food manufacturer looking to expand upon their team and delegate further responsibilities to the Technical Assistant role.

Description

The key responsibilities of the Technical Assistant are:
  • Maintain reference samples.
  • Carry out CCP, GMP, Glass & Plastic and Fabrication & Maintenance audits
  • Complete calibration checks on all test equipment on site.
  • Liaise with operations, production, goods in and warehouse teams to identify non-conformities, assist with solutions and ensure appropriate action is taken to prevent defective products from being manufactured and dispatched.
  • Update factory QA documentation and ensure production & warehouse are issued with the most current version.
  • Collating, checking and filing production and QA completed documentation.
  • Monitor production activities and quarantine area and action swiftly as necessary.
  • Assist Technical Manager with investigating customer complaints.
  • Raise both internal and supplier non-conformities follow up corrective actions in a timely manner and do trend analysis.
  • Carry out sampling such as swabbing, water sample collection, air plates, allergen/species sampling etc. and where directed take corrective action for out of spec results.


  • Generate product labels, printing labels for production/warehouse and checking them.
  • Assist Technical Manager with CCP & Process validation studies.
  • Where required, respond to technical related queries and carry out necessary investigations.
  • Help provide technical training support to other departments e.g. hygiene, PPE, hand washing, CCP's, weight checks etc.
  • To attend any training or meetings in line with the job role.


  • Ensure traceability exercises are done as per schedule and in a timely manner.
  • Assist Technical Manager with customer and 3rd party audits/visits as required.
  • Drive continuous improvement in food safety & quality assurance and promote efficiency.
  • Ensure checks are completed in accordance to company procedures and policies.
  • The recording of checks in a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Any other reasonable duties as requested by your line manager.


Profile

The ideal candidate will:
  • Be able to develop good working relationships with operations, production and other departments.
  • Previous experience within a food quality/technical role.
  • Internal auditor qualification would be desirable
  • Level 3 HACCP & Food Hygiene understanding
  • Computer Literate (Excel, Access, Word, Power Point)
  • Confident, Passionate & Assertive outgoing nature
