A leading chemical manufacturer with sites across the world are looking for an EHS Compliance Manager at their site in Cumbria. The role will be to lead and take responsibility for the EHS agenda and strategy ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies in a top tier COMAH environment.

A global chemical manufacturer and leading provider of speciality chemicals for a number of industry markets. Products are in all households around the world. The site in Cumbria is a Top Tier COMAH manufacturer with a wide product variation and complexity, running 24/7.


Reporting to the Site Director, the EHS Compliance Manager will be responsible for managing the overall environmental, health and safety activities with the primary objective of preventing loss and liability. Being from related industry you will ensure that all activities are controlled using suitable management systems that comply with regulatory requirements in particular the COMAH and EPR regulations. You Will produce company reports, run safety management systems, change and near miss investigations leading a GAP analysis. You will lead a small team and being part of the leadership team have ownership of the EHS agenda. In addition you will work cross functionally with a continuous improvement ethos, working with other sites to ensure best practise and excellence is achieved.


The successful candidate will be someone who has a proven track record in EHS Compliance in a top tier COMAH, ideally chemical manufacturing environment. In addition to this you will be of degree calibre in engineering, EHS, chemistry or process safety related field. You will be a lead auditor in ISO 9000 14001 and 18001. To add to this you will have knowledge and/or implemented safety programs such as LOTo, safe isolation of plant, confined space entry, hazard communication, hazard waste management amongst others. You will have delivered process safety assessments including HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, HRS and been responsible for the major accident prevention plan.
