This Interim Environmental Manager position offers the opportunity for you to join a growing, specialist division of an already well established company. Their cluster sites are predominately in the West Midlands area & you have the chance to lead them as they go through an exciting transition. You will be instrumental in developing an environmental plan a part of a group wider HSE strategy.



Client Details

As the Environmental Manager you will be responsible for overseeing the environmental performance of the sites. You will be required to examine the sites' starting points & establish where improvements can be made, ensuring compliance with environmental legislation across the organisation.



Description

You'll also create, implement and monitor environmental initiatives & develop a road map to promote sustainable development. Your wide remit means you'll review the whole operation, carrying out environmental audits and assessments, identifying and resolving environmental problems and ensuring necessary changes are implemented.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Working across the sites to ensure consistency of approach
  • Manage and maintain the divisional ISO14001:2015 Environmental Management System & deliver tangible business benefits (i.e. reduction in Environmental impact, maintaining external accreditations)
  • Supporting the business with identified improvements in 14001 Compliance & Environment through using the tools and techniques of the group strategy
  • Identify relevant environmental legislation and facilitate compliance
  • Develop, drive and manage environmental awareness and training within the business
  • Develop and lead internal auditing regime
  • Liaise with site leadership teams, giving continual feedback on areas for improvement and ensure that each direct report works within their business unit to provide support and mentor
  • Work with the senior leadership team to share best practice
  • Ensure external benchmarking of environmental practices are shared across sites to deliver continuous improvement within our business
  • Work with the Change team when appropriate to ensure any new projects integrate the environmental management system & understand Environmental impact from the outset
  • Give advice and direction on any compliance and environmental issues
  • Collation, analysis, reporting and communication of environmental performance data
  • Identify opportunities for division to reduce environmental impacts


  • UK TRAVEL WILL BE REQUIRED AS PART OF THIS ROLE

    Profile

    An Environmental Manager/Professional with FMCG, manufacturing or distribution experience who is available to start an assignment on short notice. The successful applicant will also have the following:
  • Ideally degree level education
  • Formal Environmental training
  • Experience managing & auditing against ISO 14001
