Director of Sourcing and Operations | Growing Business
We have a great opportunity to join a fast growing, ethical produce business who are currently looking to appoint a Director of Sourcing and Operations. Having identified an opportunity to improve sustainability and reduce waste in the supply chain, our client are now looking to build on their recent success with a period of strategic growth. As a result of this, they are now looking at securing their produce supply for the future and ensuring they have the right partners in place to continue with their overall vision. They are involved in a range of products, across fruit, veg and salads so a general understanding of produce is essential. There couldn't be a better time to join this business as you will have the chance to have a real impact on the decisions it makes.
You will be responsible for ensuring the business has the right systems and partners in place to manage its ambitious growth plans, whilst consistently delivering their industry leading offering to their customers.
You will have P&L responsibility within the business giving you the full scope to make any positive changes that you identify.
You will identify new supply partners and discussing the unique opportunity which is a true win win scenario. Consistent and reliable all year round supply is crucial to their success.
As the business grows there will be a number of opportunities to improve their efficiencies and SOP's, so you will need to be comfortable to assess and action as appropriate.
At the moment, they are only focused in one particular part of the country, so you will be responsible for scaling this up and putting everything in place to be a truly national operator.
The most important area for this role is the ongoing sourcing and supply chain functions, so a strong proven track record, within fresh produce and supply chain is crucial.
As you will see above, this isn't just another buying role, so we need someone who understands the broader set of challenges associated with running a growing business.
As the business is in a significant period of growth, they need someone who is very hands on and willing to get on with fixing issues as they arise, rather than relying on a big team to pick up the slack.
There is a real opportunity to be creative in this role. There are no established methods/models yet, so you have the chance for a bit of "outside the box" thinking to get to the end goal!
