Location: Multisite – Covering Edinburgh, Blackpool & Llantarnam Bakeries (you will need to be based commutable to one of our bakeries)

Why work as part of our Engineering Projects team?

At Burton’s Biscuits we aren’t just innovative when it comes to baking great tasting biscuits, we are also innovative in our approach to ensuring our bakeries are as efficient as possible. In order to do this our Engineering Projects Team are tasked with creating, managing and completing a number of continuous improvements and new initiatives across all of our bakeries within the UK.

We now have an opportunity for an individual to own our Group Energy Reduction Programme.

What does your typical day look like?

Working in a multi-site role, each day will vary as you come up against different challenges per bakery, but you will always have the same goal, which is to… Identify and execute energy reduction capital projects across the group’s bakeries, & continuously reduce the groups energy consumption and energy cost.

You will need to work cross functionally in order to fully understand route causes and to make valid recommendations, this will see you engage with Bakery General Managers, Engineering Teams, Finance, Procurement & Planning teams.

Key responsibilities will include (but not limited to)

- Mapping and understanding of energy use drivers across all sites.

- Identification of opportunities for energy reduction capital projects.

- Assessment of potential costs and benefits and hence return on investment.

- Creation and implementation of Identified projects.

- Post project assessment of benefit delivery.

What are the key ingredients needed for the role?

To be successful in this role you will need to hold a degree level (or equivalent) in an Engineering discipline, have a proven track record in project management and continuous improvement within a FMCG / Manufacturing environment. It is key that you have covered ‘Energy Reduction’ projects, as well as a capital projects which have included the design, procurement and installation of equipment.

In order to ensure we can continue to make fantastic biscuits, and to help us on this amazing journey, we are proud to announce that in early 2019 we completed the acquisition of a premium sweet and savoury biscuit manufacturer Thomas Fudge’s. This will only increase our baking capabilities across a number of brand new sweet and savoury categories.

As the new home of Thomas Fudge’s premium biscuit brand, Burton’s Biscuits envisage Thomas Fudge’s as forming a key branded range across our existing product portfolio.
