Multi Skilled Engineer

What you’ll do

• Advise the Engineering Manager of any shortcomings with the equipment after work has been completed
• Ensure contractors associated to Engineering department are given a site induction, permits and paperwork completed fully
• Ensure machinery is fit for purpose, and meets all safety requirements during your shift
• Understand the departments K.P.I.'s and play a key role in delivering them in full, within the timescales allocated
• Ensure you are familiar with all existing equipment on site, where necessary make your manager aware of any shortfall in knowledge
• Be proactive, with regard to maintaining site machinery, recommend ongoing improvements for efficiency and effectiveness
• Administration of all required paperwork must be completed accurately, within the allocated timeframes
• Work with the production team, develop and implement solutions to improve productivity and reduce labour cost
• In the absence of your manager, ensure all handovers and communication is fulfilled effectively and accurately
• Identify and implement, key essential spares are kept in the engineering stores, along with accurate safety stock levels
• Support the commercial strategy of the business by providing the appropriate level of involvement with N.P.D. requests

This role is a full-time, working 42 hours per week.  The shift pattern is night shift, working on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern - the working hours are from 6.30pm to 6.30am.

What you’ll need

• Experience with food packaging machinery and preparation machinery as well as knowledge of pneumatics, refrigeration and factory services is desirable
• Electrical Bias with mechanical skills
• Food Manufacturing experience desirable
• BTEC, City & Guilds/apprenticeship or equivalent in maintenance engineering
• Team player with good communication skills
• Ability to work on own initiative and demonstrate good problem solving and decision making skills
• Computer literate – Microsoft Excel/ Word/ Outlook and Internet
