Packaging Specialist

Job Title: Packaging Development Manager
Salary: £40,000- £55,000pa
Location: Lincolnshire

Our client is a large reputable fresh produce supplier who is looking to strengthen their team with an experienced Packaging Development Manager. A growing and successful business with real vision and drive this opportunity is for a packaging specialist who wants to deliver and be a key cog in the team. Its a fantastic role for a creative packaging professional who wants autonomy and to make a difference.

Key Job Purpose:
To drive the best innovation and commercial deals possible across packaging within the business. Continually develop and harness packaging innovations/design to maximise market competitive advantage. One of the key components is going to be looking at solutions and options to reduce plastic usage across the business.

Key Accountabilities:
*To drive improvement across the packaging category.
*Manage the packaging supplier base alongside the packaging buyer and implement category plans.
*Resolve supply issues and manage supplier relationships.
*Provide expert advice on all packaging requirements keeping up to date with technological innovation
*Work closely with Commercial, NPD and Site Management to provide innovative options on new products and packaging re-launches.
*Promote supplier input to optimise packaging design to improve site production efficiencies.
*As packaging technologist develop and lead strong technical relationships with our suppliers, fully understand capabilities and identity of new supplier as required to allow the projects to progress.
*Create and maintain packaging database with responsibility for ensuring risk assessment, testing and compliance, performance for the application and meet our customers' requirements.
*Project manage across the wider business
*Blue sky thinking on packaging projects

Experience:
*Previous experience within a packaging technologist role/packaging buyer/category buyer/packaging procurement role
*Proven track record of delivering innovative and sustainable packaging solutions
*Experience within the FMCG sector, ideally food manufacturing
*Strong communicator and ability to deal with senior stakeholders
