The Role

This career-defining role will see you taking responsibility for ensuring the food safety, quality and legality of food products ensuring that they meet with the company’s stringent brand standards.  

You will manage the supplier base, resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.  This will include conducting supplier audits and managing performance as well as maintaining a robust recall procedure.  You will support internal teams and stores with customer, ingredient or labelling queries too.

A key aspect of the role is to work closely with the product development team and support the launch of new products. You will help implement NPD plans and champion technical innovation to drive excellence.  This will include managing specifications, the shelf life process, manage factory trials and the launch process.

You will need to keep up to date with legislative changes and uphold the highest levels of product quality and integrity to protect the brand reputation.

The Candidate

We are looking for an accomplished technical / quality manager educated to degree level in a scientific discipline with the decision making ability and confidence to defend as well as manage the technical and quality standards for this leading food brand.

You will have knowledge of technical, product and supplier management processes gained from experience in a retail, food service or food manufacturing environment.  An understanding of chilled / fresh products would be a real advantage but not essential.
Blessed with a natural (and proven) ability for supply base management (and auditing) you will be able to work in partnership with your suppliers, manage their performance and driving best practice.

There will be national travel involved so you must have the flexibility to be away for short periods of time.
