A highly analytical, planning specialist is required for this Commercial Planning & Optimisation Manager position with a functional food ingredients specialist.

This Commercial Planning & Optimisation Manager role is a key appointment for a growing food ingredients business and will preferably be based from their Head Office in Cambridgeshire. The company supplies a range of performance and dairy ingredients to manufacturers in the health and nutrition sector and is growing in the UK and international markets. They are a true partner to their customers and while ambitious to develop their commercial profitability are built on family values.

The role of Commercial Planning & Optimisation Manager is the link between the manufacturing teams across three manufacturing facilities in Europe and the wider performance and dairy ingredients team. The role will include activities such as sales & operations planning (S&OP), contribute to the R&D project team, product profitability, data analysis and production planning. You will work with the manufacturing teams to understand their production capabilities and find opportunities to deliver improvements in profitability through reduction of waste, rationalisation of product ranges, process efficiency and inventory control. Using your skills in data analysis you will utilise information available to make data driven decisions.

Key areas of responsibility:
  • S&OP - working closely with the commercial and R&D teams to develop accurate production plans
  • Product Profitability - reduce wastage and complexity while increasing profits
  • New Product Development - working with the R&D team on long term range development


With a wide variety of responsibilities and departments to collaborate with this role would suit someone with a broad range of skills within the food manufacturing or ingredients sector. You will be working in an autonomous capacity so the ability to manage your own activities whilst working towards the businesses long-term strategic goals will be key. You will understand data and be able to utilise relevant information to make commercial decisions.
