Our client, one of the UK’s leading Prepared Fresh Produce Manufacturers, is looking for a QA Shift Leader to manage a team of QAs on the day shift at their site based in Cambridgeshire.

Reporting to the Technical Manager, responsibilities for the role will include:

  • Organising the team rota ensuring all tasks are completed to schedule
  • Conducting appraisals and 1:1s for all team members in line with company guidelines
  • Working alongside the Technical Manager, to provide training for the QA team
  • Supporting the team to conduct and manage site audits – ensuring QA completion against the schedule and where appropriate managing non-conformances raised
  • Undertaking traceability and mass balance audits in accordance with the internal audit schedule
  • Conducting regular paperwork audits
  • Updating intake documents and when required liaising with suppliers
  • Sending, reviewing and closing off supplier non-conformance notices
  • Reviewing shelf life data and proposing corrective actions
  • Providing support during external audits and visits ensuring all complaints and audit actions are investigated, followed up and concluded
  • Supporting the submission of lab samples in accordance with sampling schedules
  • Supporting the Technical Manager, to ensure all equipment used in the measurement of food safety, quality and legality are calibrated in accordance with the calibration schedule

Essential / Desirable skills include:

  • Experience in the Food Manufacturing sector (ideally Fresh prepared produce) in a similar Quality Assurance role
  • An understanding of technical systems including HACCP (qualification desirable) and BRC
  • Experience managing a small team
  • Focussed and driven with strong organisational skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Driving Licence

The salary for this role is £Competitive.  Working hours are 6am – 7pm or 7am – 6pm dependent upon requirements on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern.
