This is a well-established global trading company that imports and distributes ambient goods to a variety of industries including bakeries, confectionery companies, the ethnic trade, manufacturers, re-packers, wholesalers and health stores.  The company pride themselves in providing their customers with a personal first class service as well as products that meet the highest specifications.

The job

The role of Technical Officer is office based in a trading environment.  You will have broad responsibilities including supplier base, completing customer questionnaires, writing specifications and dealing with quality queries on a daily basis. Essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring all products meet current legislation, specifications, food safety and BRC standards
  • Approving supplier base maintaining up to date documentation for suppliers
  • Completing regular monitoring of HACCP and QMS systems
  • Writing and maintaining product specifications
  • Managing supplier performance and assisting with the approval of new suppliers
  • Liaising closely with both suppliers and customers to develop and maintain strong working relationships

Your experience

To be considered for the Technical Officer’s job you will ideally be educated to a degree level in a food science or technology discipline and possess previous experience working in a food manufacturing technical or QA role. You will be able to demonstrate solid knowledge of HACCP and QMS systems plus possess excellent attention to detail and communication skills.  Experience of specifications (internal, retailer or generic) is also highly desirable.

The Technical Officer job is based in London and is paying to £30,000. This is a maternity cover contract and the company would ideally like the successful candidate to start around October.  The role would be based on normal office working hours.
