  • To deliver the strategic purchasing goals with regards to produce purchasing.
  • To deliver increased profit 
  • To strengthen relationships and communication between the purchasing team, stakeholders in the relevant markets and the supply base

Accountable for:

  • Leading and developing the produce team to achieve the following key goals:
  • Ensuring category management strategies are developed and delivered for all categories
  • Rolling out and strengthening approved produce programmes across Europe
  • Supplier management, supply chain optimisation, quality, risk management, negotiation and communication around the produce category.
  • Developing the team
  • Developing relationships with key stakeholders across the system

  Principal responsibilities:

  • Leading the team to ensure robust category strategies are in place for all categories and key deliverables are met
  • Team management including objective setting and review and development plans
  • Carrying out the following activities both directly and by the team. The team should be held to account to ensure they are done:
    • Negotiating pricing and contracts
    • Managing suppliers and holding them to account
    • Maintaining accurate price files and ensuring changes are communicated in a timely manner
    • Sourcing new items in line with guidelines
    • Working with technical colleagues to ensure suppliers are meeting quality objectives
    • Maintaining contingency and risk management plans to ensure continuous supply
    • Communicating to Franchisees, the board, and other stakeholders


Qualifications, skills and knowledge:

  •  Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Relevant purchasing qualifications desirable but not mandatory
  • Extensive experience working in a food or beverage (or equivalent) purchasing role
  • Previous experience of managing a team
  • Broader commercial skillset to deliver franchisee profit through more than just price negotiation
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Experience of international and cross-cultural working
  • Strong analytical, commercial and negotiation skills
  • Experience working in a service-oriented organization with demanding customers
