Job Details
Our client, a large independent food manufacturer, is looking for an experienced Specification Writer to join their Technical team. Reporting to the Project Manager you will be generating product specifications and pack copies within the respective customer specification databases and providing support to the team, including artwork generation and keeping customer specification systems up to date
Key Responsibilities:
- Generating customer specifications and pack copies for respective customer accounts in line with NPD’s critical path
- Keeping customer specification systems up to date. This includes site contact details, BRC audits, Alert responses, Delisted products
- Artwork generation, coordination and legal label sign-off
- Ensuring any marketing label “claims” are substantiated with evidence
- Liaison with packaging sign off
- Ensuring compliance to retail COPs
- Populating the nutritional data base / average nutritional calculations and NutriCalc.
- Bar Code Generation / send samples to customers as required (liaise with QA dept. for bar code generation support)
- Internal auditing
- Customer communication – primary contact for specification related issues. Escalate where further support is required
- Gate keeper of shelf life for respective projects
Essential / Desirable skills include:
- Experience of writing Product Specs on Retailer spec systems e.g. Hive, Evolve, Prestige, ideally for multiple retailers
- Accuracy, attention to detail and numerate approach to provide data on time in the right format.
- IT literate in all aspects of Microsoft Office
- Problem solving, team working and good interpersonal skills
- Food Hygiene and HACCP qualified
- Confident, articulate and courteous communicator over the phone, face-to-face and in writing

The working hours for this role are Monday-Friday within standard office hours and the salary is c.£26k per annum.
