Exciting opportunity for a Purchasing Manager / Senior Buyer to develop a Purchasing function with an SME operating in the FMCG sector.

Client Details

My client is currently expanding both their product range and also the markets they operate in. The company retains its roots in packaging but is also focusing on growing other product ranges to sell in to the retail sector, including Aldi and Co-Op.

Originally a business engaged in importing miscellaneous packaging materials to supply the UK reseller market then growing into a GNFR supplier to multiple retailers and more recently supplying Household GFR products to UK retailers. They pride themselves on sourcing and selling competitively priced products at consistently high quality, to attract the high volume orders they need.



Description

As Purchasing Manager based in the Leicester area, you will lead and develop the Purchasing department and manage a team of 2 Buyers.
  • Meeting, managing, assessing, engaging, developing and motivating suppliers
  • Proposing and developing alternative supply sources
  • Follow customer/market trends to develop the product range
  • Produce timely and accurate purchasing forecasts, plans, analysis and cost reduction recommendations to enable budgets to be controlled and to make further decisions based on key drivers to improve company profitability
  • Provide assistance to the Managing Director on existing and future negotiations of key external suppliers and service providers




  • They believe they are only as good as their suppliers, so supplier relationships are key to their growth and which lifts the profile of the Purchasing Department.



    Profile

    The successful candidate for the role of Purchasing Manager will have strong experience of implementing process-led purchasing methods and a demonstrable passion for procurement and FMCG/Packaging industry.

    You will have experience of leading and/or mentoring a team and be able to demonstrate effective leadership, motivation and people management skills. You will have a strong stakeholder orientation and the ability to prioritise multiple concurrent projects.



    Job Offer

    You will be offered c. £45,000 plus package (potential room for flex for the perfect candidate) and the opportunity to really make a difference in an SME business.
