Supply Chain Buyer

Supply Chain Buyer, Caerphilly, South Wales, Manufacturing

Reporting to the Purchasing & Stores Manager, you will negotiate and purchase the most appropriate goods and services to fulfil customer orders and maintain minimum stock levels in a timely manner, to meet & co-ordinate strategic supply chain objectives to support KPI targets and measurables.

Responsibilities Include:

• Control of the Supply Chain in terms of sourcing, understanding market sectors, supplier assessment, implementation and development of new suppliers to ensure they are supported through the "Learning Curve".
• Negotiate and place purchase orders in-line with commercial agreements / supply chain policies and customer expectations. Thus securing the most appropriate goods and services are purchased, based on price, quality, delivery times, service support and industry standards
• Contract Management to build Supplier Relationships, identify Risk and Opportunities in market sectors and utilise Process Improvement to strengthen the Supply Chain.
• Identify, develop and coordinate the sourcing, development and monitoring of a strong supplier base and develop the best buying strategies for the Company with a view to maintaining good quality and reducing costs. Identifying and controlling gaps in the Supply Chain and directing the business team to repair, source or replace
• Using component analysis determine stock levels and stock turnover capability to manage Supply-chain capacity in line with sales targets and planning schedules (showing 3 months ahead).
• Utilise standard Purchasing processes and systems to manage the above such as i2i (Bom approval, RFQ, Order processing, Expediting, price management) consignment stock, pattern management etc. Attend meetings where required.
• Adhere to Company policies, procedures & standard working practices.
• Audits, Internal & external supply chain.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Experience of buyer role within purchasing
• A broad commercial understanding of contract terms

Salary: £26,000 + Benefits
