Head of Technical

We are delighted to be working exclusively with one of the UKs leading food manufacturers, British Pepper & Spice in their search for a multi-sited Head of Technical.

A specialist in herbs, spices, wet pastes and condiments BPS is highly regarded by its retail, manufacturing and food service customers across the UK. Rich in heritage, BPS can date their trading history back to the great fire of London in 1666, but more recently in 2004, were purchased by the SHS Group, a large privately owned conglomerate employing over 1,000 people in the UK and Ireland.

So what's the purpose of the role…

Due to continued growth of the business and its diverse customer portfolio we require an experienced technical professional to lead, inspire and motivate the technical teams across two of their sites, managing the day to day technical function whilst also engaging and supporting their customers.

Reporting to the Technical Director you will deliver the technical strategy and maintain the high level of technical standards and accreditations the sites have achieved.
You will be required to audit all sites, raising awareness of issues and follow up actions. Engaging with all departments is crucial, you will be involved with NPD and EPD through to regular dialogue and engagement with the operational and supply chain departments.
Most importantly and to reiterate, the team leadership and management is critical to make sure the business is delivering safe, legal and high quality products to consumers.

So what are we looking for…

A degree educated and engaging technical leader who knows the detail but can also communicate that knowledge throughout the business in a positive and forward thinking manner. You will have had experience with ambient and high care manufactured food products and had experience of dealing with the major multiples. You will be comfortable in front of customers and be a trusting supportive partner to them. We would expect to see a track record of developing people and the desire to drive a positive and open culture. You may be a Technical Manager with a wide remit, a Senior Technical Manager in a blue chip food business or a current Technical Controller/Head of Technical looking for an opportunity in a flourishing business.
