Specifications Assistant

This company works with large and artisan cheese-makers to deliver the finest products from around the British Isles to over 30 countries worldwide.

Reporting to the site Specifications Supervisor, the aim of this role is to ensure that the technical information flow between customer and supplier is accurate and timely. 
The Job holder will be confident in reviewing supplier information to ensure that it is accurate and in the correct format required by the customer COP and legislation. 
All work has to be completed within the current BRC framework of the site.

Key Responsibilities:

• Managing work load to ensure that all new projects are completed in a timely manner.
• Working with suppliers to ensure that all technical information received onto site is accurate and is sufficiently detailed to ensure that the CCI and customer site approval process occurs in a timely way. This information could be HACCP, specifications, labels, swabbing plans etc.
• Working with customers to ensure that information supplied is accurate and if amendments need to happen, then these are dealt with quickly.
• Working with the sales and client services team to ensure that projects are completed in a timely manner.
• Responding promptly and proactively to ongoing technical queries from customers.
• Maintenance & review of raw material suppliers, packaging suppliers and cheese suppliers’ records and audits.
• Assisting with NPD and Process Development on new and existing products.
• As necessary checking all goods in to ensure that all products received on site are of the standard required.
• Working within the customer technical framework using electronic specification systems.

Qualifications and experience:

• Some related experience in a QA role, ideally with a chilled food manufacturing business, or relevant qualification.
• Experience of supplier specifications systems, working with specifications, labels etc preferable.
• The ability to read, analyse and interpret technical procedures and EU regulations.

Additional Skills:

• Oral communication: able to communicate clearly and persuasively.
• Written communication: must be IT literate with experience of PC based applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and SAP.
• Team focussed: must be able to work as part of a team, preferably with experience working in multi-functional teams within an FMCG organisation.
• Planning/organizing: excellent administration and organisation skills with good attention to detail.
• Dependability: Is consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction, and solicits feedback to improve performance.
• Safety and security: Actively promote and personally observe safety and security procedures, and uses equipment and materials properly.
