The job

As a Category Buyer, you will be accountable for purchasing direct materials including food chemicals, commodities and ingredients with a spend remit of £10-£20m.

Other responsibilities include:

• Develop and implement successful buying strategies
• Lead and/or represent the procurement department on specific cross-functional projects
• Conduct sourcing activity for categories, using the approved processes and e-sourcing platform
• Responsibility for current and future budgets for own category areas and provide updates on category performance against these budgets
• Ensure great supplier performance and relationship development

Your experience

To be considered for the Category Buyer role, you will possess a solid progressive track record within procurement, buying, purchasing or similar within the food & beverage industry.

Strong analytical and numerical ability is essential with a proven track record of this. You will also be able to identify ways to make cost saving/service improvements whilst maintaining quality of service.

CIPS qualifications would be beneficial, however the company will provide the opportunity to study these for the right candidate.

You will have a confident and collaborative approach to building strong working relationships together with strong attention to detail and accuracy.

The Category Buyer job is based in the Home Counties / East Midlands region and is paying £30,000 - £35,000 according to individual skills and previous experience.

The working hours are 9 am – 5.30 pm, Monday to Friday.
