MAIN OBJECTIVES FOR THE ROLE
To support the Technical function to ensure the site meets the required standards for BRC and all Retail and Industrial customer audit standards.
Coordinating daily technical activities within the supplier assurance team and specifications team whilst providing support to the Technical Manager and Head of Technical and Quality with any technical projects.
Assisting and presenting during site audits and assessments.
Role involves liaising with all operational departments (Production, Engineering, Warehouse) including Sales, Procurement and NPD.
Deputises for Technical Manager.
To maintain food safety and quality management systems in place
To coordinate supplier management and supplier approval team’s daily activities to ensure a smooth, reliable and accurate supply of product to the business
To coordinate the technical team with data input, completion of technical and quality documentation.
Effectively manage daily technical issues with the Supplier assurance team and Specification Technologists
Support generating accurate Technical Specifications and labelling for all products produced on site or on behalf of company.
Tracking supplier approval progress for existing and new products, communicating final approval to new suppliers after final decision from Technical Manager
Maintain the raw material and packaging risk assessments and maintaining and publishing supplier’s approval list including raw materials, packaging and services supplier’s list
To request ingredient and packaging specifications, ensuring they are correct and available when required.
To liaise with suppliers and customers to ensure technical requests are quickly resolved
To assist with NPD projects as required, playing an active role during the development process.
To support QA Team with customer complaint handling as and when required
To assist with traceability during audits, mock recall or other traceability exercises as required
To provide training to technical staff, NPD, procurement on supplier approval and other technical topics as required
To be proactive in writing and amending technical procedures and work instructions
QAS, Specifications and Labelling approver
COLOS and Axicon user, internal auditor, training representative for the department
Educated to a degree level within a food related discipline preferable
Very good IT skills
Excellent time management skills
Experience of working within a food manufacturing environment
Good team working skills, excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Experience and ability of operating in a fast-paced working environment and work under pressure
Able to resolve conflicts within the team
Contract length: 12 months
