Health and Safety Coordinator (FMCG)

Overview

To support and advise site regarding all aspects of Health & Safety compliance, ensuring adherence to H&S Legislation and H&S Site Rules.

Responsibilities

• Promote and encourage a safe, open, and honest working environment including raising awareness of Health and Safety
• First point of contact for H&S advice at site, escalating to General Manager and/or Group H&S Manager where necessary
• Liaise with General Manager of the site and Site Management Team ensuring support is provided on all Health and Safety related issues
• Assist the Group’s Health and Safety Manager on all aspects of Health and Safety in relation to site
• Attend and assist General Manager with preparing H&S Statistics required for monthly Health & Safety meeting offering guidance and support when required
• Manage and monitor the Safety Management System (SMS)
• To manage the Safety Organiser portal
• Ensure Site H&S Information Boards are updated with correct information
• Undertake regular Health and Safety tours of the site including periodic spot checks on the night shift and weekend working
• Co-ordinate external Health & Safety risk assessments when required
• Monitor contractor control ensuring permits are in place, they are completed correctly, and insurances are in place
• Assist with external audits on Health & Safety
• Undertake a training gaps analysis on Health & Safety
• Liaise with Training Manager regarding undertaking H&S training
• Develop & promote quarterly targeted Health & Safety awareness themes with the aim of accident prevention

Requirements

• Experience of carrying out a similar role in an FMCG environment
• Ability to communicate at all levels
• Methodical, organised with good attention to detail
• NEBOSH General Certificate (or working towards)
• Train the Trainer
