Our client, an innovative food manufacturer based in South Yorkshire, is looking for a Technical Assistant.  Reporting to the Technical Manager, the successful candidate will work across the office and factory to ensure that all matters relating to food safety, technical, legality and quality are adhered to and maintained at all times.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Investigating customer complaints establishing root cause
  • Conducting GMP Audits and issuing out non-conformance for corrective actions
  • Maintaining the approved supplier process
  • Trending results and generating monthly technical reports
  • Assisting the Technical Manager with BRC global standards and customer Audits
  • Issuing Internal Audits and maintaining the site’s internal audit systems
  • Working alongside NPD to gather information on new products from Kitchen samples, factory trials and to launch
  • Assisting in HACCP reviews
  • Assisting the QA Assistants when required
  • Assisting in collecting and sending micro/chemical samples to the laboratory for analysis
  • Organising Calibration testing of equipment 
  • Assisting in the maintenance of site documentation and traceability

Essential skills and experience include:

  • Experience in Technical within Food Manufacturing; Food Science Graduates with relevant placement experience will also be considered
  • Understanding of internal and customer specifications
  • Understanding of BRC global standards, HACCP and Food Safety Quality Management Systems
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to communicate at all levels
  • A strong passion for Quality and Technical with ambitions for continuous improvement and promoting a positive food safety culture
  • Able to work well within a team, as well as independently
  • Self-motivated, confident, flexible and proactive, able to work well under pressure and to target deadlines

The working hours for this role are 40hrs Monday to Friday 8.30am – 5.30pm and the salary is £22k - £23k per annum.
