Material Planner - 12 Month FTC

£27,000 - £31,000

West Lothian

The material planner will be responsible for controlling the flow of materials into site in line with production requirements and budgeted targets.

The Role

  • Managing site stock levels to ensure production requirements are met whilst working capital targets are achieved
  • Communicating material intakes to the Warehouse and highlight non-delivery of materials so that the warehouse can operate as efficiently as possible and supplier non-conformance can be managed
  • Work with the Warehouse & Production teams to review stock holding so that stock inaccuracies can be highlighted and improved ways of working can be achieved
  • Manage supplier performance through KPI’s to ensure that suppliers are delivering to company expectations and any exceptions to this can be followed up
  • Manage and report material stock levels versus targets and proactively challenge supply relationships, safety stocks, lead times and other relevant areas to optimise and balance material stocks
  • Develop and control call off processes for key materials and with key suppliers, managing both company and supplier held inventories
  • Clear communication and escalation of issues in a timely manner to ensure that these issues are brought to resolution so that Service Level is not disrupted or to allow unavoidable shortages to be proactively communicated to affected customers

The Candidate

  • Experience of planning materials intakes within an FMCG environment
  • Experience of using MRP
  • Excellent communication skills, both internally and externally. Can communicate effectively whether in person, by phone, e-mail or other media
  • An advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • A proactive approach to tasks. Tackles problems in a timely manner and escalates where necessary to ensure these are overcome
  • The ability to quickly learn and be willing to bridge knowledge gaps where needed
  • The ability to build internal and external relationships and contribute to a positive working environment
  • Appreciation of challenges faced by others and a consideration of these challenges when carrying out daily tasks
