This is a fantastic opportunity to join a leading chilled food wholesaler which supplies to the UK foodservice sector. Since the business was founded over 40 years ago, the company has expanded rapidly, constantly increasing its product range to ensure they remain a market leader and the number one choice for customers.
As a Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for sourcing goods and services plus effectively managing suppliers. You will carry out strategic procurement activities across multiple categories, searching for better deals and the most profitable suppliers.
- Develop, lead, and execute purchasing strategies
- Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
- Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms
- Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power
- Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking
- Seek and partner with reliable suppliers
- Determine quantity and timing of deliveries
- Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand
You will possess a solid track record within purchasing/buyer together with excellent organisation, negotiation and communication skills.
A background of working for a food service provider, food wholesaler or similar business where you have previously purchased wholesale finished food products (i.e. not ingredients) is essential.
You will also have excellent IT skills and proficiency in Excel is essential. You will be able to multi-task efficiently, work to tight deadlines and possess a good commercial awareness.
The flexibility to travel to suppliers both overseas and in the UK is also required together with a valid UK driving licence.
The Purchasing Manager job is based in the West Midlands region and is paying £28,000 - £30,000 according to individual skills and previous experience.
Package includes 15% KPI related bonus, company pension, 20 days holiday plus bank holidays, access to healthcare plan, discounted products and mileage allowance or company pool car as required.
The working hours are Monday to Friday, 9 am – 5.30 pm.
