Eden Scott is delighted to be retained by Macsween of Edinburgh to recruit an experienced Product Development Manager based at their facility in Loanhead.

Macsween of Edinburgh makes and sells the UK's most loved, award-winning meat and vegan Haggis, and Black Pudding and are recognised as Brand leaders. Founded in 1953, Macsween is a well-established company that is passionate about making great-tasting, innovative food ethically and sustainably.

Their Award-winning produce is handcrafted using only the finest ingredients combined with unique family recipes.

These principles are the foundations of MacSween’s culture, producing handmade batches enables them to preserve their craft, maintain provenance and quality for which their food is famous worldwide. Their range of food is wonderfully versatile – ideal for all eating occasions throughout the year and no Burns celebration would be complete without a Macsween haggis.

Not only renowned for Haggis they also invented the world's first vegetarian Haggis, and their Black Pudding is admired as well! Macsween has continued to build on its reputation as a fine butcher and developed a wide array of chilled & frozen products.

Reporting to the Managing Director you will be pivotal in executing tasks associated with Agile project management and product development.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Management of both NPD and EPD through the entire gate process.
  • Label generations, declarations, shelf life and micro protocols
  • Writing raw material and product specifications.
  • Product and process development and owning NPD projects from concept to shelf.
  • Generation of accurate product costs with support from finance
  • Existing product value engineering

Requirements

  • Previous NPD experience within food manufacturing (preferably, chilled / frozen high risk multi-component)
  • Ability to self-direct and a natural completer/finisher
  • IT literate
  • Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong communication skills
  • Highly motivate and ability to work across teams.
  • Previous project management experience (Prince or Agile)
  • Previous experience of working with design agencies and global markets would be advantageous
