Quality Co-ordinator / QA Coordinator

Location: Dorset Village Bakery (Thomas Fudges), Stalbridge

Job type: Full Time, Permanent

Hours: Monday to Friday 8.30 – 17.00 however flexibility is required as the role covers QT Holidays and Absence so will be required to work variable shifts including Nights when needed.

In order to ensure we can continue to make fantastic biscuits, and to help us on this amazing journey, we are proud to announce that in 2019 we completed the acquisition of a premium sweet and savoury biscuit manufacturer Thomas Fudge’s, also in 2019 we acquired Scottish bakers Paterson Arran. This increases our baking capabilities across a number of new sweet and savoury categories.

As a result, we now have 6 bakery sites across the UK, located in Blackpool, Livingston, Edinburgh, Dorset, Isle of Arran and Llantarnam, with our head office in St Albans. In total we employ circa 2,000 people around across our locations.

Why work for Quality and Food Safety?

Everyone across Burtons Biscuits, takes a sense of pride in their baking, which means you’ll get to work with some fantastic people. In this role you will be responsible for maintaining the technical specification systems and co-ordinate supplier approval program. Co-ordinate technical activities relating to specification revisions or new product launches including production documentation. To assist in the launch process from concept hand-over to full factory launch in line with agreed time-lines and costs. To work effectively and ensure that Food Safety, Integrity, Quality and Legality are maintained within the business.

What does your typical day look like?

You will get a lot of variety in this role and everyday will be different, one day you might be aiding customers with completing new line forms, assisting with launch paths & reviewing specifications, through to management of artwork approval and revisions, pack copy review, label checks and origination to be conducted as required and to set deadlines.

Next you might be supporting complaint investigations, managing product data spreadsheets and be part of the traceability team.

What are the key ingredients needed for the role?

All you need is previous experience in an administrative role and a technical or QA role, Level 2 Food safety for Manufacturing Certificate and a willingness to learn and work to best practices.

Final part of the mix.

You will need to be able to work on your own initiative, have strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail and be flexible & adaptable in your approach. Resilient with the ability to challenge if the right process isn’t been followed.

This role will be based out of our bakery in Stalbridge, Dorset.

You may have had experience or be looking for the following: QA Technician, Food Technologist, Quality Assurance, Food Manufacturing, Production Operation, Machine Operator, Line Lead, etc.
