You will be joining us at a hugely exciting time to help us implement our new strategy on Essential Works and deliver and evaluate the positive impact for local residents across the borough through participation, training and employment opportunities.

We are looking for skilled Essential Business Incubation Leads to join our Collaborative Business Programme team, training young people to manufacture products and create a collaborative working group of individuals aiming to form a co-operative, funded by the Kickstart Government Scheme.

Essential Works is a new opportunity for up to 30 young residents of Barking & Dagenham to become trainees in one of multiple Kickstart Programmes to develop and produce essential food and baked products over a period of 6 months

You will:

  • Design a range of products, or work with a new or existing recipes, to create a set of essential produce or food products that build the basis for a new co-operative business.

  • Develop the kitchen spaces, to compliment the manufacture of the products whilst maintaining an open access, learning environment.

  • Build a co-operative mindset, working with six 20-24yr olds over six months, to learn, manufacture and iterate the products.

  • Introduce co-operative business principles to the trainees and co-create structures that maintain the business beyond the Kickstart scheme.
