Health, Safety & Environment Officer

Everyone reaps the benefits of a healthy and safe workplace, however getting people to be enthusiastic about health & safety policies isn't always the easiest job. While every function within a manufacturing environment has its own priorities and challenges, if teams aren't consistently implementing health & safety responsibilities, the entire operation is put at risk.

I am currently working with a well-known food manufacturing business who are looking for a dynamic and driven Health, Safety & Environment Officer to join their facility based in the East Midlands.

Working with the Health, Safety and Environment Manager, you will be responsible for providing advice and leadership of the Health & Safety function, managing systems and supporting risk management processes among other duties within the department. An integral part of this role is being a champion for all things Health, Safety and Environmental across different departments - you will be required to motivate and influence teams to prioritise Health & Safety matters, keeping them updated with current policies and processes and ensuring these are put into practice.

This business runs a complex, large-scale operation therefore experience in a similar environment is essential. Food manufacturing experience is advantageous however they will consider applicants from a general FMCG background if they hold relevant qualifications, including a NEBOSH certificate in Health & Safety or equivalent. You must also be a confident communicator who takes a hands-on approach to Health & Safety. You will be liaising with people at all levels of seniority therefore you must be a passionate and confident individual.
