Quintessential Brands are the name behind award winning spirits including Opihr, Greenall’s and Bloom gin, Dubliner Whiskey and Feeney’s Irish Cream as well as a large portfolio of retailer and own brand products. As Gin Producer of the Year three years running and with ambitions for growth (and to win lots more awards!), it’s an exciting time to join our team.

As one of the largest spirits producers in the market, we are constantly looking to innovate and evolve and our packaging solutions are at the forefront of this. We are looking for a Group Technical Packaging Development Lead who can deliver a packaging development program for the business, working with key stakeholders and customers to deliver solutions that are creative, original and will result in incremental growth for the business.

A Flavour of the Job

Reporting to the NPI Director, The Group Technical Packaging Development Lead will have both the technical aptitude and commercial awareness to take ownership of all group packaging projects and innovations from concept to implementation, on time and within budget. In order to do this you will build strong relationships with both the commercial and technical teams, providing packaging expertise recommendations for all NPI projects and drawing on internal and external contacts to proactively identify trends in packaging innovation.

That’s not all, alongside your work on the packaging development program you will also lead and develop a small team, fostering a strong culture of high performance and helping to embed the one team mindset across NPD and the wider business. This is a challenging role but a fantastic opportunity to motivate people and to bring new innovative solutions to life and play a key role in the evolution of our products.

A Taste of the Business

We are a unique blend, a 9 year-old business with a 250 year heritage, a pioneering company with ambitions to grow and share our passion for spirits with generations to come. We’re not perfect, we still have processes and systems to implement and improve and as a company we operate in a lean and agile way, but we are getting there. Joining QB (as we’re known to our friends) is a unique opportunity to roll your sleeves up, get stuck in and really help to shape the business as we expand. Are you up for the challenge?

A bit about you

As Group Technical Packaging Development Lead with a background working in Engineering within FMCG or retail, you will be passionate about packaging trends and innovation with the technical skills, creativity and curiosity to drive innovative, sometimes unique, solutions and will have a proven track record in finding and delivering original resolutions to key packaging challenges. You will be an excellent communicator with the ability to build relationships across functions and divisions and manage stakeholder expectations at all levels, with the resilience to take constructive feedback but also challenge in the right way to make sure we are doing the right thing at all times. The ability to motivate and develop a team, getting the best out of those around you, is an essential part of this role and the key to success so you must be a leader who can inspire, create excitement and loves taking people along with you on the journey.

The Essence of QB (The Benefits)

  • A competitive salary
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • Company pension
  • Life Assurance
  • Quarterly employee recognition scheme
  • Access to BUPA healthcare scheme
  • Measures in place to protect our colleagues including flexible home working and PPE when on site
