An Opportunity too good to waste
One in eight people in the UK are going hungry every day. Yet, each year, 2m tonnes of good food goes to waste. FareShare is the UK’s biggest charity fighting hunger and food waste. And right now, we’re looking for somebody brave to take on our biggest challenge to date: to become our Director of Food.
This is a pivotal moment for FareShare, and you’ll lead our team of specialist food industry account managers to deliver an ambitious three year plan for growth. You’ll see moving into the charity sector as a chance to drive huge social change and tackle food waste, while still working collaboratively with all the major businesses and trade bodies in the industry.
Your in-depth knowledge of the food supply chain – either from a retail or manufacturing perspective – together with strong relationship skills and innovative thinking, would make you perfect for this position. The work is challenging, but vitally important. Because everything you do, every day, will ensure surplus food reaches people in need. In fact, you’ll be responsible for supporting more people living in food poverty than anyone else in the UK.
We see this as an opportunity too good to waste.
If you do too, we’d love to hear from you.

About FareShare
FareShare is the UK’s national network of charitable food redistributors, made up of 18 independent organisations. Together, we take good quality surplus food from right across the food industry and get it to nearly 9,500 frontline charities and community groups.
The food we redistribute is nutritious and good to eat. It reaches charities across the UK, including school breakfast clubs, older people’s lunch clubs, homeless shelters, and community cafes. Every week we provide enough food to create almost a million meals for vulnerable people.
Every year, more than three million tonnes of food go to waste in the UK, enough for 7 billion meals. Meanwhile, the cost-of-living crisis is driving millions into food insecurity. FareShare has a plan to help tackle the cost-of-living crisis using England’s surplus food.
We are fortunate to benefit from the support of major retailers, the media, sports ambassadors and a groundswell of public engagement. As a result, there has never been a more exciting time to join an organisation at the heart of public consciousness.
FareShare’s Strategy & Vision
