Masters of Flavour

‘Creating the Magic of Flavour Together’ is our vision at Bart, we are all about flavour and elevating meals to distinctive status using our knowledge and expertise in herbs, spices and ingredients.  We have been sourcing and selling the very best ingredients since 1963 and were pioneers in bringing Fairtrade and Organic herbs and spices to the UK market.  That entrepreneurial spirit still guides us today with relentless enthusiasm.

Every recipe we develop, every seasoning we prepare, we do so with the utmost care and attention to detail, allowing the herbs and spices to sing.  Whether it is a Ground Cinnamon from Sri Lanka, a Black Garlic paste, a Thai Green paste or Garam Masala spice blend, authentic depth of flavour is the ultimate measure.

You can find us under the Bart brand or in private label solutions for major retailers, we also contract pack for other brands, across our two sites in Bristol (dry goods) and Newbury (wet goods).

We love what we do, we do the right thing by our customers and consumers and we are looking for a likeminded Junior Product Developer to join our growing NPD team.

You will be responsible for supporting the gate process and associated documentation of product development from recipe and samples creation to trials and full-scale production for our customers and Bart brands.  In this pro-active role, you will seek out product innovations and extensions, identifying insights that will unlock growth.  You will support the product development team in the management of our brands’ and our customers’ portfolios, following legal and quality requirements, investigating product improvements and/or production efficiencies.

You will love working collaboratively, championing flavour and the delivery of our strategic plan.  You will liaise with customers, procurement, production, planning, commercial, accounts and technical teams to ensure that NPD and EPD ingredients are landed on time and to budget.

If you are a foodie and love working with a highly motivated team of passionate, professional people, then this could be your dream job.

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Have a Food Science or Food Technology degree or relevant qualifications
  • Driven and determined with relentless enthusiasm for food
  • Strong attention to detail with a methodical and logical mindset.
  • Collaborative worker able to listen attentively and communicate effectively
  • Effective multi-tasker; can work on multiple projects, managing timelines and prioritising tasks and actions accordingly.

If you think you have the skills and ability coupled with a passion for flavour and quality ingredients, then please contact Chris Hancock, Head of NPD at recruitment@bart-ingredients.co.uk.

Please note that we are only able to accept and respond to applications from candidates with eligibility to work in the UK and those who hold valid work visas.

We do our utmost to get back to candidates quickly but if you have not heard back from us within 5 days then your application has not been successful on this occasion.
