The job

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent food graduate or a Junior NPD Assistant looking to progress their career in the food R&D sector by joining an expanding, branded food business that holds product innovation at the heart of what they do.

You will be working in a talented and forward-thinking Research & Development team where you will play an integral role in developing market leading products.

Specifically, the role will carry out trials for new product development, conduct tests for product assessment as well as ensuring developed products are of the highest quality.

Additional duties:

  • Conduct laboratory trials for new product development, existing product development, new ingredients and packaging.
  • Carry out physical chemical analysis such as viscosity, pH, Brix among others.
  • Maintain an inventory of ingredients and finished products.
  • Carry out sensory evaluation tests.
  • Ensure that lab equipment and working areas are maintained in a clean and tidy state and available for use all the time.
  • Assist with recipe development, administrative tasks and factory trials.
  • Generate reports for all trials and tests carried out.

Your experience

To be considered for the R&D Laboratory Assistant role, you will possess a degree/HND or equivalent in a food science, food nutrition or food technology related discipline or have previous food technical, NPD or similar experience from a university placement/post-grad role.

A background of working in a food laboratory is highly desirable.

You will have a good understanding of food safety and quality standards, have excellent organisation and problem-solving skills and a driving licence is also required due to site location.
