A position has arisen for a Technical Manager working for a dynamic food business which manufactures high end products.
They work closely with their customers to develop an innovative, great tasting product range and have a great reputation for the supply of retailer brands; working very closely with the leading UK supermarkets and food manufacturers.
As Technical Manager, you will be accountable for the technical and QA activities within the factory during the shift with responsibility for delivering the technical agenda, supported by a multi-disciplined and talented QA team who you will be effectively managing to deliver objectives.
This is a hands-on factory floor role where you will make real-time decisions to ensure the company remains legal and compliant with the product but also food safety systems and ways of working. For the right candidate, you will have the chance to make a real impression and implement effective change.
Other key responsibilities:
- Drive site compliance to certification requirements & customer codes of practice i.e. BRC.
- Be the lead for the technical function during customer audits and technical visits.
- Coordinate all QA and Hygiene activities.
- Senior HACCP team member.
- Facilitate and take ownership of non-conformances, including investigation and resolution.
- Develop a culture of always maintaining good GMP.
- Develop, coach, and monitor the performance of team members
- Explore innovative ways of driving improved performance and motivating the team
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated individual with a solid technical / QA track record within food manufacturing. This role may suit an existing QA Manager or Technical Supervisor looking for progression.
Ideally educated to a degree level in a food science discipline, you will be a natural team leader, have high attention to detail and be customer-focused. You will also be Food Safety and HACCP Level 3 qualified plus ideally Lead Auditor.
You will be able to demonstrate working knowledge of raw material & packaging specifications, factory technical management, retailer customer requirements, hosting food safety audits, BRC, QMS and HACCP.
A driving licence is recommended due to the site location.
The Technical Manager job is based in the Home Counties / South Central region and is paying £45,000 - £48,000 according to individual skills and previous experience.
This is a shift role working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday either 7 am – 3 pm or 3 pm – 11 pm, or possible a rotation of each according to business requirements.
