We have an amazing opportunity to join a leading and well established international ingredients business that specialises in the development, production, and marketing of their product. 

The position is for a Quality Manager with a focus on environmental health and safety also. We are looking for someone who can really make a difference in this role through high delivery and continuous improvement. 

As the Quality Manager your main purpose is to manage the Quality Control & Assurance of products and processes. You will provide strong technical support for the site team including Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) protocols, introduction of new products into the plant and troubleshooting of microbiological and general product processing technical issues. Your role is to provide direct leadership and management for the laboratory team, safety and environmental (HSE) management team and some external contractors. 

Other Key responsibilities: 

  • Develop, implement and ensure compliance with the company’s quality management system to make sure we adhere to standards on producing, handling and distributing products. 
  • Review existing policies and plan how to improve quality management systems 
  • Ensures adherence to customer specifications through ownership of robust quality control processes and product release mechanisms. 
  • Leads preparation for customer, regulator and accreditation audits including annual BRC re-certification. 
  • Involvement in complaints management process, taking ownership for technical elements 

Our ideal candidate will be able to deal with and rationalise many complex dependencies and issues, and present recommendations and options to meet business needs. You will have brilliant communication and influencing skills, with a proven ability to influence across a wide range of stakeholders.

As the Quality Manager you will need to demonstrate management, training, and leadership skills. 
You will be leading, managing, and coaching a team of 4 people, managing company hygiene, quality, and laboratory activities. 


You will train everyone on site (circa 55 people) in appropriate GMP, food and personal safety standards, skills, and techniques. You will need to own and lead site safety and environmental policies and develop suitable safety and environmental management protocols. You will represent the business on all technical-related matters - internally and externally with customers. 

It is essential you have experience in Food and Beverage, or Food services industry and five years + proven work experience as a quality, food safety or technical manager to be successful. Please note you will also need the following, Microbiology or food technology degree, Continuous Improvement qualification, (e.g., Green Belt), NEBOSH safety certificate, Qualified auditor, Environmental awareness - ISO14001. Laboratory methods and management experience required.
