Our client, a world renowned Food Manufacturer based in Leicestershire, is looking for a Food Technologist with a strong scientific background to join their Operations Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving product improvements through the investigation and development of new and current processes and technologies. They will need to have the ability to apply the principles of Food Microbiology, Chemistry and Food Engineering, through experience gained operationally, to ensure the production of a consistently high-quality product.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, responsibilities for the role will include:

  • Identifying knowledge gaps within the company and setting up projects to fill those gaps, developing and nurturing an ethos of continuous improvement
  • Implementing beneficial process and change
  • Reviewing, evaluating and providing improvement options and solutions to the manufacturing process
  • Maintaining a high product quality in accordance with quality standards
  • Setting up a process performance monitoring system
  • Auditing and troubleshooting on installed production equipment and lines to offer preferred future solutions for improved productivity and quality
  • Data analysis of process parameters and product quality to look for improvement trends
  • Reporting problems or issues as they arise, which may impact on product quality or production activities
  • Working with NPD to develop the product and meet customer requirements
  • Assisting in the effective implementation of company quality and environmental objectives

Essential / Desirable skills include:

  • Degree qualified in a Science discipline, or relevant experience in a similar role within Complex (High Care) Food Manufacturing
  • Must have a scientific (Micro and Chemical) background within food
  • Experience leading multifunctional teams including projects
  • Self-motivated with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ideally, a certificate in Advanced Food Hygiene
  • IT skills specifically in Excel, Word and Data base management /development
  • Proven ability to prioritise tasks and deadlines
  • Understanding of Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points (HACCP)          
  • Knowledge of Quality and Compliance Systems
  • Data analysis / statistics interpretation

The working hours for this role are Monday to Friday 8am – 5pm, with flexibility to meet the needs of the business, and the salary is £Competitive.
