MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

·Health & Safety

  • Ensure the safe working of engineering functions in line with Global standards and SSOW/SOPs
  • To make the workplace a safe environment by ensuring:
  • All company and legal requirements are met and maintained.
  • Safety equipment is properly maintained, checked and recorded.
  • Safe working practices are promoted at all times with all checks and job sign-offs completed.

·Quality

  • To ensure all Quality Management Systems are adhered to and properly documented.
  • To ensure Engineering GMP targets are achieved with standards being understood and adhered to by all team members. 
  • To understand food safety legislation, including HACCP in line with the responsibilities of the role and to ensure that the team’s outputs meet these standards.
  • To ensure all documentation is clearly completed, filed and available for internal and external auditors.
  • To work with Production and Quality teams to improve and develop operating practices which enhance product quality and customer service.
  • Ensure full compliance with Company Quality, Food Safety, Health & Safety and Environmental requirements.
  • To assist with the integration of new equipment with the manufacturing, operations and project teams.

·Operational

  • To schedule and execute planned maintenance activities with the Engineering team leader/Senior Shift Engineer. Post outage reviews as part of CI
  • Responsible for the PM pillar implementation and key support in autonomous maintenance workstream
  • Attends daily engineering meeting- effectively communicating with shift based team on priorities for the value stream
  • Attends Site Daily Performance review meeting- representing the engineering function for their value stream, owning and delivering on actions as per required
  • Attends Weekly performance review owning and reporting engineering KPIs for the value stream and delivery on actions as required.
  • Level 2 escalation for shift based engineering team if an issue cannot be resolved
  • Responsible for the PM plan for the value stream and the adherence in terms of PM compliance and outstanding wo completion. Implements PM review system ensuring all pm are relevant and value added
  • Owner of the spare part strategy for site, ensuring stock value and availability is in line with PM pillar standard
  • KPI setting and delivery based on factual measured data. Prepare and deliver reports on relevant Departmental KPIs.
  • Working within the engineering team in a ‘hands-on’ capacity as shift cover when required during holiday/sickness/breakdowns
  • Contractor Control – ensure appropriate Risk assessment, LOTO Procedures, Permit procedures are complied with.
  • Site Engineering (Maintenace) representative on site projects/workstreams ensuring smooth handover from project to site ownership

·Supervision of Maintenance Teams

  • Key Part of factory leadership team

·Financial

  • Responsible for maintenance budget in value stream area
  • Raising of PO and ensuring goods arrive in line with order. Identifying Capital spend opportunities
  • Identifies and deliveries on cost saving project in line with Site CCI commitment

CANDIDATE PROFILE

 

  • Time served Engineer - minimum HNC mechanical/electrical.
  • Experienced in food, or consumer products industry supported by a good track record of acquiring Engineering skills and continuous development.
  • A solid grounding in food handling safe practices and ability to carry out confined-space entry work.
  • An awareness of HACCP, PUWER, LOLA and COSHH.
  • Must be an effective team player
  • Must be able to work on own initiative and have ability to highlight continuous Improvement opportunities
  • PC literate (Experience of Word, Lotus Notes and Excel Spreadsheets)
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and fault-find within a production facility
  • Good written and verbal communication skills – ability to effectively communicate with both suppliers and internal customers
  • Must be able to accurately interpret schematic diagrams
  • Logical thinker and problem solver
  • Must possess the energy and drive to ‘get things done’
  • Have an organized methodology
  • Can plan to a specified time scale.
