Reports into:         Group Managing Director

Location:              Deeside

The Business

Calbee UK Ltd are a crisps and snacks business producing under the Seabrook and Harvest Snaps brands and for private label. The business is backed by its Japanese parent company Calbee Inc.

Established in the UK in 2014 they acquired Seabrook Crisps Limited in October 2018. Since that date the business has undergone a complete restructure, combining with Seabrook, and taking the initial steps towards creating a broader snacking Group.

Historically Deeside was a heavily loss making site and with a limited product portfolio, the business is now transformed and with c. £2m of additional capital investment due in H1 2021 the platform is there to grow the business from its current revenue of c. £8m per year to an expected excess of £20m in under 3 years.

A new site leadership team has been established and you will be expected to lead that team on a day to day basis.  You will operate autonomously, but within our Group framework and drawing from your experience and resilience to manage the challenges of a fast-paced business.  In addition to your day to day responsibilities you will be expected to contribute to discussions around the Group’s strategic development as we look to scale over the coming years.

This is an fantastic time to join us and if you are looking to take control of a site, lead a business through an exciting development phase, mentor a new on-site leadership team and implement a long-term capital strategy – this is the role for you!

The ideal candidate

The ideal candidate for the Site Operations Manager will be someone with a demonstrable track record of career progress and delivery within an operational environment in food manufacturing.

Spending time in the factory will constitute a major part of this role but you will need to be equally comfortable presenting at a Group Management Meeting. Administrative support is provided centrally at a Group level, leaving the site free to focus entirely on delivery.

Work ethic and an ability to operate at all levels is critical, as is the ability to problem solve, we are not a business constrained by process; pace and adaptability are key to our culture. This role is an FMCG SME and therefore the qualities and cultural fit of the Site Operations Manager must reflect that.
