Specification and Systems Technologist (6 month FTC)

The Company

This established brand are known for their vibrant product ranges and are a leading light in their sector. They are looking for Specifications and System Technologist to join the team for a 6 month contract.

The Role

Reporting to the Specification and Compliance Manager, you will have responsibility to ensure Food Safety, Quality, Legality and Brand Reputation are maintained at all times.

This role is responsible for the completion and approval of raw material specifications in conjunction with both internal stakeholders and suppliers to meet the deadline for product launches.  This includes uploading, checking, processing, approving and maintaining specifications in the system.

You will support the team to ensure all technical information requirements are met, taking the lead on specifications, raw material control and legislation.  You will be the main contact handling customer and branded product specification related queries.  Other duties will include leading continuous improvements in quality systems and the department infrastructure.

You will work closely with other internal teams, including NPD and commercial on new projects, as well as responding to technical queries and supporting with external audits. You will be monitoring the effectiveness of corrective procedures, analysing information for strategic review and communicating with customers regularly.

The Person

We are looking for a confident, attentive and technically-minded scientific professional with experience in food manufacturing (pharmaceutical or other regulated industries will be considered too).

Experience in specification systems is essential as is knowledge of quality management systems, HACCP and supplier management.  Awareness of laboratory testing processes including Quality Control would be great along with an understanding of food safety risk assessment and risk management best practice.

You’ll need to be methodical and analytical in your approach, be highly numerate and have excellent communication skills in order to liaise effectively with peers, internal teams and suppliers.
