Supplying products to UK retailers this chilled food manufacturer who have an established presence in this competitive industry are looking for a driven and self-motivated packaging professional to make their mark in this newly created role.
Reporting to the Packaging Manager, you’ll be supporting the development of innovative packaging ideas from concept to launch, keeping up with the latest developments and following market trends to identify customer and consumer needs.
You will be responsible for organising and managing packaging trials within the factory as well as attending packaging print runs and coordinating travel tests to ensure all packaging products meet the criteria for functionality, shelf presence and consumer usability. Ensuring that final products are functional and fit for purpose you’ll aim to produce items which match current trends, taking advantage of any business opportunities as you design and manage packaging mock-ups, working from briefs and use information gained from customer meetings.
You will also be involved with managing the technical aspects of supplier sourcing where you will work to identify potential new suppliers, material or packaging designs that provide a competitive edge via cost, quality or innovation.
Your accountability will also include managing packaging specifications, checking and approving artwork to guarantee all packaging elements are in line with company strategy and customer requirements.
We are looking for a creative and technically proficient Packaging Technologist with a food or packaging qualification along with experience of working in a similar packaging role within food manufacturing.
Knowledge of food, food packaging materials and packaging systems including, thermoforming, MAP, tray sealing, VFFS, flow wrapping, labelling, heat sealing vacuum systems are required. Ideally you will also have a good understanding of UK retailer requirements and their supply chain.
Able to effectively project manage you’ll need to have excellent organisation and prioritisation skills in order to effectively work on multiple projects along with a keen eye for detail and problem solving abilities. You will be liaising with internal teams, suppliers and customers so your communication skills must be first rate too.
