Deputy Packing Side Leaders

Purpose of the Role

To be responsible for the operation assigned to each line ‘packing side’ to ensure that the line completes the daily packing plan and produces product of the correct standard and at optimum efficiency.

The Role

Role Specific Duties

  • All ensure products to be packed as per customer request by the team.
  • Ensure all food is segregated in line with the Company’s Food Hygiene Guidelines set out in our Food Safety Policy
  • Promote Lean Manufacturing culture
  • Implement and be proactive in improving systems in dispatch area.
  • Ensure all products are segregated per customer request.
  • Ensure all crates are labeled accordingly.
  • Ensuring that all products are in good condition before they are packed and sent to customers
  • Minimizing waste of packaging.
  • Co-operating with NPD and QA’s to ensure these departments work efficiently.
  • Making sound decisions regarding removing any substandard products and report to QA’s and/or Production Manager.
  • Print all the labels based on training provided, check the use by date, print quality, paper quality, record the last 3 labels for each product on REC 63, segregate the labels per product code and issue the labels to Packing Side Leaders.
  • Ensure that line clearance and label changeover is done as per policies and procedure.
  • Ensure any machinery damages or malfunction needs to be reported to Production Manager.
  • Offer full support to Packing Leaders on all activities.
  • Report issues to Production Manager in daily basis

Leadership & Teamwork

  • Training new team members in all aspects of processing including equipment use, record keeping, driver allocation.
  • Assisting any existing team members where their skills require improvement
  • Cover colleagues for short time periods when they are out of working area.
  • Motivating, evaluating and developing staff.
  • Carrying out regular appraisals, setting targets and monitoring the performance of the team.
  • Communicating well with Management Team.
  • Leading by example

Health, Safety and Hygiene

  • Maintaining high levels of Health, Safety and Hygiene at all times and ensuring team members also adopt these high standards.
  • Implement a clean as you go policy. 
  • Making sound decisions regarding removing any substandard products and report to QA’s and/or Production Manager.
  • Ensuring all machinery damages or malfunction is reported to Production Manager.

Salary: £25,000 Per annum, Working 6 days a week
