The challenges facing the retailers are huge. Keeping pace with emerging regulations across food, packaging, product safety and sustainability is critical. Staying agile in changeable markets in a period of commercial growth takes nerves of steel.

It's fair to say, Regulatory Affairs isn't generally recognised as a dynamic area. Prepare to reconsider any preconceptions. This role comes with a wide reach and challenge, but with the scope to influence and help shape the future strategy.

Your food regulatory experience means you'll be in a position to deliver quickly and with impact. Managing the regulatory affairs programme, you'll help to create the strategy, define the team and skills needed. Sitting within the central Technical team, alongside senior Food Technologists, Development, Commercial and Buying, this role has a global reach, where you'll be expected to deliver regulatory provision for UK, European and International channels, ensuring legal compliance and protecting brand reputation.

Naturally with all the changes, you'll have your finger on the pulse, anticipating and communicating the impact of emerging regulations, while operationally, maintaining and updating current data including draft and final requirements.

As well as forging strong partnerships with internal stakeholders, you'll ideally bring with you existing relationships with external regulatory authorities, NGO, government, EU and international organisations.

Practically, you'll need in-depth knowledge of food legislation and draft legislation across all UK, EU and international markets. Recognising the challenges faced, your ability to apply logic and reasoning to problem-solving, along with strong communication skills to cut through the complexity are key.
