Procurement Category Lead - Packaging - Central London

My client is a large, International food business renowned for its product ranges backed up by an enviable heritage. They are committed to delivering high quality product innovation at good value for its customer base. As such they have a world class buying team that they are now looking to strengthen further.

We are looking for an experienced person who can deliver value to the business quickly. Working as part of a central team you will help transform the way that they currently buy all of their packaging. This is a new role within the business owning the relationship with key existing and new suppliers delivering sustainable, innovative packaging solutions whilst maximising profit. This is a high profile role where you will be responsible for the entire paper based packaging portfolio across the entire International business. On a daily basis you will be exposed to Senior Director level stakeholders so you will need to be confident, self assured and resilient.

Key responsibilities include:

• Build and deliver a 3 year category sourcing strategy around paper packaging
• Build a risk management plan
• Ensure commercial strategy is in line with the businesses' key values and objectives
• Support and lead existing NPD projects
• Guide the business around paper packaging
• Work closely with internal functions to maximise end to end benefit

Candidates will need 3-5 years strategic Packaging Buying experience of paper-based products within a large, fmcg/pharma business. You'll have upstream sourcing experience along with excellent supplier relationship and management skills. Candidates will be degree educated and ideally be MCIPS qualified.
