Technical Manager

The Company

This small but well established food business supply a range of retail and food service customers with exceptional products from across the globe.  Some are produced in-house and other ranges are supplied by manufacturing partners abroad.

The Role

You will be responsible for keeping products safe, legal and compliant as well as supporting with innovation.   You’ll be the technical and quality guardian for the factory and for imported products.

You will actively manage and promote a food safety culture within the site ensuring all health and safety requirements are met, regularly reviewed and action plans implemented.

You will work closely with a range of customers to gain a clear understanding of their brand standards and technical requirements for products.  As well as taking responsibility for technical information such as nutritionals and labelling, you will also support with NPD requirements such as shelf-life, artwork and packaging.   

The role will include maintaining QMS and HACCP, TACCP & VACCP as team lead.  You will also manage non-conformances, complaints, raw material and finished product specifications, supporting with BRC audits and keeping up to date with changes in legislation that would impact on products.

The Person

We are looking for a confident Senior Food Technologist or Junior Technical Manager with a Food Science or related qualification with experience within the food industry.  You will ideally have worked within food manufacturing and are now looking for an exciting role to enhance your career.

You will need knowledge of BRC, HACCP and auditing as well as retailer codes of practice, specifications, labelling legislation and a good understanding of the NPD process. 

Outstanding communication, influencing and relationship building skills are essential as you’ll be liaising with internal teams as well as suppliers and customers on a regular basis.  Your attention to detail, organisational and prioritisation skills also need to be top notch.
