NPD Technologist

The Company

Our client is one of the UK’s most successful food groups producing delicious chilled products for a broad customer base. They are expanding rapidly and as part of their growth strategy they have created a new role for an ambitious NPD Technologist to support their NPD team. 

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity to join a progressive business where you’ll be part of the NPD team with a focus on concept development. 

Reporting to the NPD Manager you will help support on the company’s largest customer account.  You will be contributing to the development of new concepts and updating existing products in line with customer briefs.

With the support of the NPD manager you will develop your understanding of customer brand standards so you are able to develop products that meet the brief, showing an understanding of the value proposition and trends.

You’ll be managing product panels and supporting with customer presentations as well as managing sample sign-off.  You will be working to the NPD stage gate process, in line with the critical path, co-ordinating day-to-day activities with customers and internal teams.  This will include working closely with Process Technologists to ensure a smooth product launch.

Once you progress in the role there will be the opportunity to manage your own customer accounts.

The Person

Suit an ambitious and driven NPD Technologist with previous experience in food manufacturing – ideally supplying the retailers.  A keen eye for emerging food trends is essential as well as a good understanding of the critical path plus creative and technical aspects of the product development process.

You must have excellent communication and presentation skills coupled with the ability to build and maintain solid working relationships with key customers. You’ll also need exceptional attention to detail alongside great project management and organisation skills in order to achieve success in this fast paced role.
