At Caffe Nero, our philosophy is simple: premium Italian coffee, a warm and welcoming atmosphere, great food and fantastic personal service. To deliver that philosophy we are uncompromising in seeking out people who are not only at the top of their game but who also share our enthusiasm and outlook.

We are looking for a creative and commercially driven Food Development Manager to join our team.

Typically you will spend time at our office in Covent Garden in London, where you will come together with colleagues in Commercial, Technical and Marketing. The rest of your time will be with suppliers and home working.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have autonomy to manage the development process from concept through to store delivery of all products in the given category
  • Have an eye for the latest trends, good culinary knowledge and be able to turn customer insight into market leading products
  • Develop relationships with key internal brand partners to be the ambassador of their category
  • Establish relationships with suppliers to ensure product quality standards and commercial targets are met
  • Work closely with commercial, marketing and operations to optimise the category
  • Supporting the development of the annual food plan
  • Manage given food category against the food plan
  • Leverage data and customer insight to drive range development and NPD
  • Develop products to agreed commercials from kitchen to factory
  • Create and deliver food presentations from board to store teams
  • Quality management of given food category

You will have …

  • A solid background in product development – in either sweet or savoury products in the food to go sector (either with manufacturing or retail)
  • The resilience to make things happen
  • Excellent communication skills – engaging with suppliers and stakeholders across the business
  • Great commercial awareness and understanding of customer needs
  • Experience of supplier management
  • The ability to operate in a dynamic and fast moving culture
  • Strong experience of product development either through manufacturing or grocery
  • A willingness to roll up your sleeves! Being as comfortable with strategy planning as you are with execution and project management
  • A passion for food and drink

We’ve got some pretty great benefits too …

  • 25 days annual leave + 8 days bank holiday (which increases with length of service)
  • 50% employee discount on handcrafted drinks
  • Access to Bean Box- our benefits platform which offers you loads of discounts and freebies at the touch of a button
  • Private Medical care through Vitality
  • Cashplan Healthcare scheme
  • Life Assurance
  • Pension
  • Length of service recognition
  • Free hand-crafted coffee and tea at Neal Street- and we’ll give you the training so you know how to make really great coffee too!

If you feel you could bring your personality to a fun and energetic team, why not apply to us today …
